About Kids Escaping Drugs

Face 2 Face

Face 2 face logo

The Face 2 Face Program is a proactive, educational program that partners with school districts throughout WNY. The program was piloted in the 2008-2009 school year at half a dozen schools and through word of mouth; requests for participation in Face 2 Face came in rapidly. The goal of the program is to reach students and parents in the earliest stages of use in order to alter their decision making so that substance abuse treatment is not necessary in their future.

What is the Face 2 Face Program?

Speaking Panels
Alumni, alumni parents, and current clients share their personal stories of addiction to demonstrate the real life consequences of negative choices related to substance use.

Educational Seminars
Counselors and addiction experts provide in-services for educators on the current trends, signs, and symptoms of substance abuse.

Early Interventions (Click for more information)
Students identified as being “at risk” by educators, parents, or doctors are provided with an opportunity for a private, one time session on the campus with their parent(s), a counselor, and peers in treatment.  Parents are provided with educational materials, and referrals to treatment services are made as necessary.

While Kids Escaping Drugs remains committed to adolescent drug and alcohol treatment, we are also dedicated to be a prevention partner in our community. Partnering with our schools to educate parents and children, Face 2 Face  is another stepping stone on the path to a drug free Western New York.

Talk to your Kids Face 2 Face:

Think about what you did as an adolescent that your parents had no knowledge of. Now imagine you had unlimited access to a vehicle and to today’s technology - cell phones, social networking sites and computers. Adolescents literally have the world at their fingertips.

It is a parent’s responsibility to monitor this activity and talk to their children about expectations. The earlier you start the conversations and the more often you have them, the more open your communication will be. Simply telling our children not to drink or use drugs is unrealistic today. Every child will face the choice to use or not at some point during their pre-teen or teen years.
How they respond to the situation will largely depend on how you’ve prepared them.
