Vape Education Sessions
At Kids Escaping Drugs our Early Intervention Program is used to provide proper education and reduce suspension time for youth with a substance related infraction. The majority of the cases we have seen recently are those who use or are in the early stages of using Nicotine vapes. In the interest of time and scheduling efficiently for both families as well as Kids Escaping Drugs staff, we will be moving to group sessions for cases involving solely Nicotine vapes.

For the entirety of this school year, we will be utilizing the Nicotine vape session format. The KED Face2Face team will provide two sessions per month for parents and their child to attend. KED will host the sessions on the first Tuesday of every month from 1:00pm to 2:00pm and the third Thursday of every month from 3:30pm-4:30pm with a max of 30 students per session. This will allow us to have more candid conversations with the students and to have a more focused approach on cessation techniques and coping strategies instead of the traditional vaping education the KED team often provides.

We want to assure our partner schools that the changing of the format will not lessen the impact of what we are trying to achieve. Parents will still be required to call and speak to a KED Program Specialist and determine which session they are able to attend. KED will continue to offer one-on-one Early Interventions with students who are in early experimentation stages with other substances.
