How/why did you get started at KED?
I have a strong passion for advocating, understanding and empowering the youth. The KED staff and programs are diverse, relevant, and reflective of the challenges our youth face.
What has been the most impactful experience for you so far?
I'd say the most impactful experience so far was attending an intervention. The KED staff were not only able to provide prevention, but we were able to identify the root of the problem that led to the substance use and provide resources for coping and family support.
What are you most proud of KED accomplishing recently?
I am most proud of KED's partnership with Buffalo Public Schools and also Jefferson Ave Friday Night Live. The staff will get to see the resilience following the 5/14 tragedy. Many people in the inner city are not aware of KED. I feel like this will be a HUGE resource for our youth in the inner city of Buffalo.
What is something that is on your bucket list?
Take my family to visit my niece Jaimee and her cat Luna in Finland.
What is something that always makes you smile?
Seeing youth achieve their goals, become leaders, overcome obstacles and break generational cycles of trauma.
If you could time travel, where would you go, and what would you see? I spend some time in the 1970's anywhere on the east coast. I'd wear two afro ponytails, platform shoes, bell-bottom pants, crochet handbag. Thats when soul and funk music evolved, I'd attend every single concert.
Amber!! I'm so very proud of you, you never told me, I hope this endeavor take you very far. Thanks for all you do. Love you ❤️
